So, my time in Brazil is finally at an end. On 19 August, having been stranded in Brazil as a result of COVID-19, cancelled flights and lockdown, I eventually touched back down at Heathrow Airport. My experience there is something I will never forget and was a time that I was really able to just concentrate on my cooking, preparing this business and thinking about my plans for the future. I was also lucky enough to be able to experiment with all sorts of tropical fruit, foods and new recipes - inspiration for my menu planning and private chef business now I am back home.
I am now getting ready for some exciting new opportunities and I'm ready for more. Whether you have a special occasion - a baby shower, birthday party or just a night in with a loved one - I can provide a unique private chef experience for you, catered to your specific requirements.
I have also taken on some new food advisory clients in the last few weeks, and whatever your ailments or health goals, I'm sure I can help.
One thing that has struck me anew since I got back is the importance of cooking with local 'in season' fruits and vegetables. Having got a taste for mango and papaya in Brazil (just some of the fruit stalls I discovered in the cities of Rio de Janeiro and Olinda can be seen below), it was amazing how tasteless and bland the same fruits tasted here! But making fruit salads with blueberries, raspberries, blackberries and nectarines - all found plentifully here in the UK - has made me fall in love with those flavours all over again. Tastes and food availability are different all over the world, but stay in tune with your surroundings and you can't go wrong!
